Can cats eat rice, roti or dal?
Safe
In small amounts, yes — plain rice, roti and dal are not toxic. But they're no diet for an obligate carnivore, and most home or dhaba dal comes with a garlic or onion tadka, which is toxic.
Why safe: Not toxic when plain — but not a diet, and a garlic tadka makes it toxic.
